Earlier this year we met and filmed an interview with Es Devlin on behalf of MediaStorm. The recipient of this year’s WSJ. Magazine 2016 Innovators Award in the field of Design, she is largely considered the most pre-eminent stage designer in the world.
Having worked with some of the greatest artists of our time, including Adele, Beyoncé and Kanye West, Devlin uses design to create “gestures” on stage that evoke the spirit of her clients.
A truly deep commitment to her craft, you can easily see why Devlin deserved the 2016 Innovators Award. She gave us an inspirational insight into her thoughts and processes and we were really fascinated by how her designs transpire through the different pieces that she creates.
Her sense of responsibility to her audience with what she is creating is something that really resonated with us here at JKP and it was a real pleasure to be able to meet and film her interview earlier this year.
Highlighting both her impact in design and the brilliance of creating what are essentially memories check out her interview below:
Es Devlin has spent 20 years investigating some of the most important stagecraft of the last two decades. From Wagner to Beyonce, Devlin has created stage design that expands upon the core ideas of each performance regardless of genre.

Our beautiful wedding couple Selina and Nick chose to celebrate their day more as a festival than a traditional wedding. With every detail carefully planned, they had everything from marshmallows to tattoos, from giant photo booth to outdoor cinema! It was a truly wonderful day and an honour to capture their special day, so we are very excited to present the trailer for their wedding! Selina and Nick you are both wonderful people and we wish you every happiness for the future. Congratulations!
It’s not everyday you get to meet a real life astronaut, but this week we had the great honour of meeting both Tim Peake and Tim Kopra as they rounded up their Principia UK post-flight tour. On Wednesday 19th October they flew straight in from Belfast (the previous days’ location for the tour) to the Science Museum in London to wow over 400 school children in a Live Q&A session about their time on the International Space Station (ISS). At the beginning of last year, we were flown out to LA to capture the official behind the scenes of the filming of the Inifiniti QX50 commercial for China – filmed by DOP Phedon Papamichael ASC and Directed by Juame Collet-Serra.
An amazing shoot set over 5 days, there was a lot to capture. This week we revisited the photos and have now added a selection to go alongside the video on our portfolio.

They say never work with kids, but after spending two days filming with 12 kids aged between 8 and 12, they proved they can be a very professional bunch, for this we used the best equipment and furniture for kids, and you can view the brands page for more information about this. Here’s the full version of a recent commercial we shot for Cravendale featuring some very grown up kids in a Cravendale pub. Ahhh, it’s a hard life 😉

Updating our portfolio on the website is always fun. This week focused on Limeblue Design and even though we don’t include every job we’ve done for them, it’s amazing to see how many places you get to travel to. With Limeblue Design we’ve travelled the exhibition centres of London, over to Oxford and all the way up to Edinburgh.
Limeblue Design create and build unique exhibition designs, retail sites and provide excellent interior design services. We’ve been working with them for just over three years now and look forward to continue working with them in the years ahead.

Last month we were approached to film a brand new commercial for Cravendale. Having received the brief and budget, our first point of call was bringing on our awesome Director Will Kenning who we knew would be perfect for this project.
After securing our Director the next priority was sorting out the kit we wanted to shoot on – the RED Dragon shooting at 6K through Zeiss Ultra Primes. Having formed a great relationship with the guys over at Shootblue we soon had that covered.
All that was left were the creative meetings, castings, location scouting, recces, set dressing, scripts and booking the rest of the crew! Before we knew it, two weeks later we were on set and filming day 1 of 2 for the Cravendale commercial.
Soon to be released, here’s a look behind the scenes of the two day shoot, plus an extra little clip from filming: video
Time flies when you’re having fun! Constantly working on different projects it’s hard to keep up with sharing what we’ve been up to. Six months ago today we were live side on an active runway in Cambridgeshire filming some slow mo product shots for Go Travel. Here’s a small sneak peak behind the scenes which we’ll follow up with the video soon.
Last month we were in Paris filming and photographing for Clarins’ annual Brand Seminar. After two full days of filming here’s one of the main videos we produced of the event from start to finish. #CloserToYou #CloserToStores
This time last week we were in sunny Paris! Filming and photographing on a two day shoot for Clarins Paris we were capturing the build of a 130m2 installation for their annual Brand Seminar as well as the actual event itself.
Attended by over 250 people from Clarins across the globe it was a big task, but with a strong crew it was a fantastic shoot and here are a few photos from behind the scenes.
